Keeping pedestrians safe

At Traffic Safety & Management (TSM), we are totally focused and committed to ensuring the safety of pedestrians and cyclists. When arranging traffic management services, we consistently deploy solutions that meet the latest safety and compliance terms and ensure that all signage is fully compliant with the New Roads and Streetworks Act (NRSWA), Chapter 8 and The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions (TSRGD).

With streets becoming ever busier, in terms of both highway and pedestrian volume and with safe passage for those passing through a work area statute law and requirement under the NRSWA we offer a tried and trusted methodology, delivered by teams of operatives who are experienced, fully qualified and 100% reliable.

By law, pedestrians and vehicles must be able to use a traffic route without causing any danger to the health or safety of people working nearby. When formulating a solution, our experienced designers will always incorporate a demarcated Exclusion Zone that protects the public from entering areas that cause them harm. As required, we can integrate a Pedestrian Management scheme into a more complex traffic management solution or provide it on a stand-alone basis. Knowing that the public is in safe hands enables clients to concentrate on their work, giving full attention to the job at hand.

As specialists in traffic and pedestrian management, we offer an unparalleled service and have invested in the latest equipment from the leading portable and temporary signal manufacturers that operate intelligently using technology previously only used on permanent signals. This provides far more efficient movement of traffic and pedestrians with the option to integrate with the HA network. In addition, this is supported by the latest desktop access and combined CCTV solutions, providing both TSM and its customers with remote access to signals anywhere in the country. Where there is heavy footfall, tidal movement or sudden surges in pedestrian movement such as at events and near industrial areas, this allows us to ensure our solution is monitored in a cost-effective manner, removing the need for unnecessary resource on site.

We will ensure that roadways and footpaths are separated and clearly delineated, temporary walkways deployed, safe pedestrian crossing points mobilised and provisions made to ensure the public are kept safe at all times.

Dedicated TM planners and contract staff work closely with our customers, deal with Highways Authority approvals and any other matters associated with our works, taking into consideration general health and safety, noise and environmental impacts.

As necessary, our service provides:

  • Consultation
  • Design and planning
  • Assistance in completing Statutory paperwork and HA approvals
  • Temporary walkways
  • Barriers
  • Vehicle and pedestrian matting
  • Marshalls and pedestrian escorting

Given our ongoing investment in the latest equipment, continual training and development of staff and commitment to the highest levels of customer safety, we have an established reputation with local authorities across the UK.
