Working at the forefront of health and safety

At Traffic Safety & Management (TSM), we work within one of the most dangerous environments in the UK, with teams working with or alongside fast-moving vehicles, as well as driving their own vehicles and having to lift and position a wide range of items, including cones, barriers, fencing, signage, temporary lights, sandbags and so on. All this can be done at any time of day or night, which carries its own particular risks, and in all kinds of weather.

As such, we take the subject of health and safety very seriously and are 100% committed to protecting everyone involved in any of our works, including workforces and pedestrians. Since the company began in 2000, we are proud to say that we have an immaculate safety record, a not inconsiderable achievement considering the hazards we face daily.

That’s because at TSM, we take a proactive approach to health and safety. For a start, we invest heavily in our health and safety strategy, ensuring we provide services that are at the forefront of industry regulations and recommendations. This involves providing ongoing training and development for all staff to ensure they are able to respond quickly and efficiently to any changes in health and safety legislation and keep up with the ever-evolving industries with which we work.

As a result, we operate teams of highly skilled, fully trained staff and operatives with extensive experience in traffic management. We have built and sustained long term relationships with our clients by adopting a collaborative, mutually supportive approach.

We also utilise an innovative customer portal, available to all clients via their laptops or mobile phones, providing real-time updates on all works, enabling us to provide fast, flexible services, minimising the occurrence of human error. Teams and clients can view, share and analyse important information quickly, wherever they are, enabling them to respond promptly to changing circumstances and helping clients to streamline their compliance process.

By continually monitoring our teams to ensure we adhere to and implement current safety requirements, we have maintained our unblemished safety record, giving clients, workers and the general public complete peace of mind that health and safety is always our number one priority. Testament to this is the number of leading industry accreditations we hold, including ISO 9001: 2015 and  Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) Gold.  We are also fully certified by Exova, Alcumus, Avetta and Constructionline as meeting the required health and safety standards.
